Trays
Using teeth whitening trays at home has become very popular in today’s appearance obsessed society. The teeth whitening trays allows you to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home.
The trays are very similar to a Gum Shield and are made of either plastic or vinyl rubber, these are then filled with a whitening formula consisting of mainly peroxide.
Compared with whitening toothpaste and laser whitening, teeth whitening trays offer a very inexpensive, safe and a positive solution to teeth whitening that produces great results.
Depending on the discoloration of ones teeth depends on the strength and length of the treatment so advising with your dentist is very much advised before starting.
Having an initial consultation with your dentist is a must, as they will tell you whether you are suitable for the procedure and also tailor make a specific course of treatment for your circumstances. If you are suitable then a mould of your teeth will be taken and then used to produce the upper and lower trays.
The teeth whitening trays are moulded to fit exactly the contours of your teeth allowing the whitening gel to closely cover your enamel to produce a consistent whiter smile. One of the big disadvantages of buying teeth whitening trays over the counter is that they are not uniquely moulded to your exact teeth so the results can vary dramatically.
Once you have had your whitening tray fitted by your dentist, you will be provided with the treatment description of how to use the trays at home. Your dentist will then provide you with the necessary syringes of solution so you can then start with whitening your teeth.
The length of time to keep the teeth whitening trays in your mouth will depend on the advice your dentist has given, or specified in the instructions of the ‘over the counter’ products/trays. Some treatments require you to wear the trays for 15-20 minutes or up to 60-90 minutes per day or per session.
The teeth whitening trays will remove most stains and any discolouration very effectively. The gel produces oxygen that penetrates the pores within the enamel surface of your teeth. The oxidation process is safe and easy to use and will certainly help in the removal of stains that may have become embedded in the enamel over the years.
Please remember that using ‘over the counter’ teeth whitening trays are very safe and do work – but always consult with your dentists as to the best solutions as the treatments are individual to your circumstances.
